Many freelancers see themselves as lone rangers. But cooperation, negotiation and people skills are essential if you choose to work for yourself. You are not just own boss, but also your own representative. In fact, you should consider each client as a pseudo boss. The only power you have over the client/boss is the power to fire them.  Of course the more ‘bosses’ you fire the less income you receive. Though it may save your sanity at time to fire

As a freelancer, at one time or another, even if it’s just at the beginning, you will find yourself out of work. It can happen because you haven’t established a clientele, or you simply can’t find work from past clients or referrals. Sometimes you’re waiting on upcoming jobs to get started.  However, as a freelancer you should always have something to do.  In fact, you should be working more as a freelancer then if you worked for company full time.
